From South Wales, under Welsh rules

Cardiff delegates reach our London centre in a comfortable morning, and Wales’ distinct regulatory position deserves plain explanation alongside the timetable.

The Welsh regulation picture

  • Since 29 November 2024, Wales has licensed special procedures: tattooing (including SPMU and microblading), body piercing, electrolysis and acupuncture (including dry needling). The scheme requires practitioner licences, approved premises and an accredited infection-prevention course. If your practice includes SPMU or microblading in Wales, you need this licence now.
  • Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers sit outside the Welsh scheme for now. Councils have publicly called for their inclusion, and the England scheme’s architecture could extend later. There is currently no Welsh under-18 toxin/filler ban equivalent to England’s.
