CPD accreditation certifies learning hours. It is valuable but unregulated, and it carries no qualification level. Ofqual-regulated qualifications (VTCT, OTHM, Qualifi and so on) sit on the national framework with external quality assurance and formal assessment. Both have a place, CPD for skills days and regulated qualifications for career milestones. Any provider blurring the two is telling you something.
This distinction decides insurance eligibility, university recognition and licensing-readiness, yet most course pages bury it. A ‘Level 7 CPD diploma’ is a contradiction. If it’s CPD, it has no RQF level; if it has a level, the provider should name the Ofqual-regulated awarding body and qualification number.
